Deze kop stond in het Nederlands Dagblad van zaterdag 14 maart j.l. Deze krant en met haar de gehele pers publiceerde dit bericht n.a.v. een artikel uit blad Binnenlands Bestuur. Op basis van onderzoek dat in de afgelopen drie jaar is gehouden door twee onderzoekers in 151 gemeenten, is onze gemeente op de eerste plaats geëindigd als de best presterende gemeente.

Dit is een positief bericht en daar zijn wij zeer trots op. Trots, op ons ambtelijk apparaat en op onze gemeente. Het is ook voor de politiek een opsteker en daar zijn wij als ChristenUnie ook best mee ingenomen. Als partij die bestuurlijke verantwoordelijkheid draagt en bezig is met het uitvoeren van haar verkiezingsprogramma en het college programma is het leuk te horen dat anderen vinden dat onze gemeente het goed doet.
Het onderzoek strekte zich uit over de laatste drie jaar, wat overeen komt met de zittingsperiode van de huidige raad. Dan is het goed om eens te kijken wat er is gerealiseerd de afgelopen drie jaar. Ik noem er enkele.
Er zijn vier schitterende kunstgrasvelden op de Westmaat aangelegd. De kwaliteit wordt door een ieder geroemd en de beide verenigingen zijn er zeer tevreden mee.
Sportpark De Vinken wordt gerenoveerd. In samenspraak met de gebruikers wordt gesproken over verbeteringen voor alle gebruikers. Zelfs zijn er nieuwe gebruikers bij gekomen.
De voorbereidende werkzaamheden in Rengerswetering zijn van start gegaan. Dit jaar zal met de bouw een aanvang worden genomen, Ook voor starters op de woningmarkt. Via startersleningen, het Provinciaal stimuleringsfonds en niet te vergeten de Koopgarant constructie. Dat worden echte starters woningen. Bouwen voor onze kinderen en kleinkinderen.
Met de uitvoering van het fiets - en wandelpadenplan is een begin gemaakt. Langs de Laak is een schitterend nieuw fietspad aangelegd. Gelijke plannen voor de Oostdijk en de Bekaaide Maat zijn in voorbereiding.
Enige tijd geleden werd onze gemeente op de eerste plaats gekozen door het Midden en Kleinbedrijf in onze provincie. Voor heel Nederland eindigde Bunschoten op de 4e plaats.
Het Centrumplan was gereed geweest, ware het niet dat door het faillissement van van Hogevest vertraging is ontstaan. Onze fractie heeft in de laatste raadsvergadering bij het college erop aangedrongen maatregelen te nemen voor de openbare ruimte rondom dit plan.

In de onderhoudskosten van de parkeergarage is voorzien tot 2010. Daarom was er geen noodzaak om de belastingen te verhogen met 12% of dat er parkeergeld moest worden ingevoerd. De ChristenUnie heeft u beloofd dat in deze zittingsperiode het parkeren gratis zal blijven. Dat is een belofte en die lossen wij in. Wat daarna zal gebeuren, daarover moet nog besloten worden. Maar berichten dat er al min of meer besloten is dat er betaald parkeren zal worden ingevoerd, zijn niet aan de orde.
Ben ik volledig. Absoluut niet. Dit is slechts een greep uit wat in tot stand gebracht de laatste drie jaar. Er gebeurt gelukkig nog heel veel goeds in ons mooie dorp.
Geeft dit onderzoek ons het recht om achterover te gaan leunen? Neen. Er blijven altijd zaken over waar inwoners minder mee ingenomen zijn. Ook dat hoort bij de politiek. Het is voor de ChristenUnie belangrijk om onze gemeente goed te besturen, met een consistent en betrouwbaar bestuur. Voor zo'n bestuur wil de ChristenUnie zich inzetten, als constante factor. Daarbij zijn wij ons ervan bewust wat er geschreven staat op een tegel die in de raadszaal hangt: Om het alle man van pas te maken,en door iedereen bemind, zijn onmogelijke zaken, die men op deze aarde vind.
